FAQ

Where do our dogs come from?
Our dogs are predominantly from rural shelters throughout OH, KY, and WV.
What are the adoption fees?
$350 for dogs one year and older
$400 for puppies under a year
This fee allows us to provide spay or neuter surgery, microchip, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and vaccinations.
How long until I hear back from someone?
All of our members are volunteers, please allow 72 hours for a response. For puppies or more “popular” dogs, response time may be longer. If your application is approved, we will contact you for the next step in our process.
Why wasn’t my application approved?
  • Did not meet our minimum age requirements
  • Current pets are not current on vaccinations or heartworm prevention
  • Current pets are not spayed/neutered
  • Unable to verify property ownership
  • Apartment or homeowner association pet policy (number of pets, breed restriction, size limits)
What kind of vet care do they receive?
  • All dogs will be brought up to date on their Distemper combination series (including Leptospirosis), Bordetella, and Rabies.
  • All dogs of appropriate age (as recommended by a veterinarian) must be heartworm tested at the time of physical exam unless medical records indicate they have been tested within the last six (6) months and have been on a heartworm preventative.
  • All dogs will receive monthly heartworm, flea, and tick prevention.
  • All dogs will have a fecal check upon intake to ensure the health of the animal and any other animals it may live with or come in contact with.
  • Appropriate treatment will be administered on the results of fecal.
  • All dogs will receive a microchip. Microchips will be registered to MWK9 and updated after adoption to include the adopter’s information.
  • For any breeds that require it, grooming will be done as deemed necessary.
Do you adopt out of state?
Applicants from states immediately adjacent to Ohio will be considered on a case-by-case basis, except for puppies under 6 months, which must be adopted within the central Ohio area.
